Type of project: Leisure
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Duration: 8 weeks
We were hired as leisure building contractors to complete the construction of a new gym in Dublin. The scope of work included the conversion of a number of retail units over two floors into a gym in Dublin’s city centre. The project involved the fabrication and installation of a new internal steel staircase. A series of studios were constructed, complete with acoustic walls, including a Polar Studio. The site presented numerous challenges given its location adjacent to the Luas line. All deliveries of plant and materials had to be coordinated with the management team of the Jervis Shopping Center.
A full mechanical and electrical design package was designed by Lovebuild Construction Specialists and submitted for approval to both the client’s design team and the Jervis Center team prior to the completion of the installation.
Lovebuild Construction Specialists worked closely with consultants from both the client’s design team and the Jervis Center to satisfy the requirements with respect to D.A.C. and FSC. This included the design and installation of a Fire Detection Alarm System which had to interface with the Jervis Centers’ building management system.
We started with the demolition of walls and strip-out of the existing retail units. The retail space required a complete gym fit-out which comprised of a full mechanical and electrical fit-out (fire alarm and emergency lighting, sound system, intruder alarm, CCTV and access control), full plumbing fitout, soundproofing and noise reduction of studios, offices and changing rooms, painting and supply and installation of a chair lift, specialised floorings such as 43mm rubber and astroturf.
